Dr. Joshua Fink is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Diseases, and has earned the reputation, substantiated by many of his associates and patients, as being one of the best in differential diagnosis and determining the cause of a person’s problems when many other doctors may have given up.

His philosophy is that medications are often used to treat the symptoms of a disease, and treating the symptoms, though important, should not replace the intensive investigation of trying to determine why there is a problem in the first place. Further, he believe it is completely disrespectful to the patient to have them sit in a waiting room for hours on end waiting to be seen, and then getting ten minutes of the doctor’s time, if they are lucky. This simply doesn’t happen in our office. Patients are given one hour appointments, or more, and the time is spent in an efficient manner which is respectful to both parties.

Before even seeing Dr. Fink, we may ask that any blood work or radiographic studies you have had in the past be sent to us in advance, that way Dr. Fink has had the adequate time to review all the data before you’ve even come into the room. This further advances your care, as it gives him the ability to focus in on the questions he will need to ask you.

Our office specializes in providing second opinions for those in need. Dr. Fink also provides house calls, depending on your geographic location, for those who do not have the ability to come to the office. Our patients come to us from other physicians and patients and we thank everyone for making our practice model a success. Some have come to refer to this as a “concierge” practice, and we would like to state that if concierge means rightfully giving people the time they deserve with a physician of over 20 years experience, than we would agree with that definition.

Clinical Challenge

Dr Fink provides second and third opinions in diagnosis. Given the overwhelming pressure to see as many patients a day as they can, Internists are often not able to spend the time "thinking" about a case. This is the honest, and sad state, of what has become of the American medical "system". Unfortunately, Dr Fink cannot accept every case that is presented. Dr Fink will briefly review your issue, and if he feels it is something he can help you with, in the sense of a "missing diagnosis", he will use his 20 years of experience and insight to help figure out "what is going on". Once a diagnosis is confirmed, he will refer you back to your treating physician. Please note that Insurance is not accepted.

Here are some of Dr Fink's latest clinical challenges which eluded a single diagnosis with other physicians. In these recent cases, Dr Fink found the true underlying cause of these problems:

1. A 40 y.o. man with diabetes, arthritis and low testosterone levels
2. A 30 y.o. woman told she had lung cancer and was preparing for chemotherapy
3. A 45 y.o. woman who was failing migraine therapy and was told she had a cervical disc problem
4. A 55 y.o woman who has a severe cough and a "negative" work up
5. A 58 y.o. woman with fatigue, joint aches, dizzy spells and muscle pains, with an inability to gain weight
6. A 20 y.o. man with severe respiratory failure who was told he "just had to go on a ventilator for 10 days". 5 days after Dr Fink's involvement, he was sent home without oxygen. One week after that, he was attending a trade show.
